SAP Implementation

SAP Implementation
Business Problem:
Bemis, a $5B global manufacturer of flexible packaging materials, launched a business transformation program to implement SAP across the North American Divisions in 2006. The program had significant challenges, and in 2011, the program was stopped after only taking 11 of the 60 locations live on the new operating platform. The solution had significant gaps with the business requirements and it did not institute the rigor and controls to successfully transform the business.
Our Solution:
Bemis Leadership engaged our team to evaluate the SAP program and recommend a path forward. The team leveraged its proprietary Risk Control System to quickly analyze the program and develop a road map to deploy the solution to the remaining locations.
The team implemented recommendations to address the challenges across the solution, communications, technical architecture, and program management. We revised the original delivery approach by logically grouping the functionality into releases and setting a deployment schedule and site sequence to complete the program. Our team instilled a set of best practices and program controls to help measure and manage the program, which in turn has produced more accountability and rigor across the company.
Benefits:
After re-launching the SAP Program, Bemis has been able to successfully hit each of the major milestones, setting the program on a trajectory for success. As part of the recommendations, our team lead the initiative to upgrade the SAP landscapes to stay within the vendors maintenance windows and establish a scalable infrastructure. We also developed the conceptual architecture and strategy to build an information backbone, enabling business flexibility including future company acquisitions.
